Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to LKN Guitar Works, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of our guitar repair services, including any related consultations, estimates, and sales of parts or accessories (collectively, the "Services"). By bringing your instrument to us for repair, requesting an estimate, or otherwise engaging with our Services, you signify your agreement to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Services.

2. Services Offered

LKN Guitar Works, LLC offers a comprehensive range of guitar repair and maintenance services, including but not limited to: professional setups, fret leveling and crowning, refrets, electronic repair and modification, pickup installation, structural repairs (e.g., headstock breaks, bridge re-glues), nut and saddle replacement, cleaning, and string changes. All services are subject to an initial assessment of the instrument's condition to determine the scope of work required.

3. Estimates and Pricing

All instruments require an initial assessment to determine the scope of work and provide a repair estimate. A non-refundable diagnostic fee of $50 will be charged for this assessment, which will be applied toward the total cost of any approved repair. Estimates are valid for 30 days from the date issued. While we strive for accuracy, estimates are approximate and may be subject to change if unforeseen issues arise during the repair process or if the scope of work changes based on client request. We will notify you promptly by phone and/or email and obtain your approval before proceeding with any work that would significantly exceed the original estimate by more than 25%. Full payment for all services and parts is due upon completion of the repair and before the instrument can be picked up. We accept payment via Venmo and cash. A deposit of 50% may be required for certain custom modifications or repairs requiring special order parts.

4. Turnaround Time

Estimated turnaround times are provided at the time of service drop-off or estimate approval. These times are estimates only and are subject to change based on the complexity of the repair, availability of parts, and current workshop volume. We will endeavor to complete repairs within the estimated timeframe but do not guarantee specific completion dates.

5. Pickup and Storage of Instruments

Customers will be notified by phone call and/or email when their instrument is ready for pickup. Instruments must be picked up within five (5) calendar days of notification. A storage fee of $5.00 per day will be applied to instruments not picked up within this 5-day window, commencing on the 6th day following notification. These fees will accrue until the instrument is picked up and full payment, including all accrued storage fees, is received.

Any instrument left with LKN Guitar Works, LLC for more than ninety (90) days following our initial notification of completion, and for which full payment (including any accrued storage fees) has not been received, will be considered abandoned. In such cases, and in accordance with North Carolina General Statutes (NCGS Chapter 44A, Article 1) regarding mechanics' and possessory liens, LKN Guitar Works, LLC reserves the right to take possession of and sell the instrument to recover all outstanding charges for services rendered, parts, and storage fees. We will adhere strictly to all legal requirements for notice and disposition of abandoned property as stipulated by North Carolina law.

6. Warranty on Repairs

LKN Guitar Works, LLC stands behind the quality of its work. We warrant our repair services against defects in materials (supplied by LKN Guitar Works) and workmanship for a period of 30 calendar days from the date of instrument pickup. This warranty is strictly limited to the specific work performed and parts installed during the original repair.

This warranty does NOT cover:

  • Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, neglect, accidents, or improper handling of the instrument after pickup.

  • Normal wear and tear, including but not limited to fret wear, string breakage, or finish aging.

  • Issues caused by environmental factors such as extreme changes in temperature or humidity, which can affect wood stability and finish.

  • Repairs or modifications performed by anyone other than LKN Guitar Works, LLC after the original service.

  • Any pre-existing conditions of the instrument not addressed by the original repair.

  • Sentimental value or loss of use of the instrument.

To make a warranty claim, the customer must notify LKN Guitar Works, LLC in writing lknguitarworks@gmail.com within the warranty period, describing the issue and providing the original repair invoice number. The instrument must then be returned to our workshop for inspection. If a covered defect is confirmed, we will re-perform the repair at no additional labor or parts cost. This warranty does not cover shipping or transportation costs associated with returning the instrument for warranty service.

7. Limitation of Liability

LKN Guitar Works, LLC commits to exercising reasonable care and professional skill in the handling, assessment, and repair of your instrument. However, we are not responsible for pre-existing conditions, latent defects, or damage to instruments that may occur during the repair process if such damage is unavoidable or unforeseeable. This includes, but is not limited to: the failure of old glue joints; unexpected reactions of finishes (particularly nitrocellulose or vintage finishes) to cleaning, polishing, or repair chemicals; cracking or degradation of aged plastic components; or issues arising from inherent material flaws or previous improper repairs. We will notify you promptly if any such unforeseen issues arise during our work.

Our total liability for any damage to an instrument while in our care, custody, or control, or for any alleged defect in our services, shall be limited to the lesser of the cost of the specific repair performed or the fair market value of the instrument immediately prior to being submitted for repair. Fair market value will be determined by independent, generally accepted industry valuations. Under no circumstances will LKN Guitar Works, LLC be liable for any sentimental value, or for any incidental, consequential, punitive, special, or indirect damages, including but not limited to lost income, lost performance opportunities, or emotional distress, arising from any damage or delay.

Customers wishing to ensure coverage above the fair market value of their instrument should arrange for their own independent insurance coverage prior to dropping off the instrument.

8. Customer Responsibilities

To ensure the best possible service, customers are responsible for the following:

  • Full Disclosure: Disclosing any and all known issues, existing damage, previous repairs, modifications, or special characteristics of their instrument at the time of drop-off and during the initial assessment. Failure to disclose such information may impact the accuracy of estimates or the success of the repair, for which LKN Guitar Works, LLC will not be held liable.

  • Removal of Personal Items: Removing all personal items, accessories, and valuables (e.g., straps, capos, tuners, picks, humidifiers, cables, or paperwork) from their instrument and its case prior to dropping it off for service. LKN Guitar Works, LLC is not responsible for any personal items left in cases or on instruments.

  • Accurate Contact Information: Providing and maintaining accurate and up-to-date contact information, including phone number and email address. LKN Guitar Works, LLC relies on this information for all communications regarding estimates, repair status, and pickup. Failure to provide current contact information may result in delays or, in accordance with Section 5, the instrument being considered abandoned if we are unable to reach you.

9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or our Services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Catawba county, North Carolina.

10. Severability

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be illegal, invalid, or unenforceable for any reason, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary. The remainder of these Terms and Conditions shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and be enforceable according to their terms, as if the invalid or unenforceable provision had never been included.

11. Changes to Terms and Conditions

LKN Guitar Works, LLC reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. The most current version of these Terms will always be prominently posted on our website at lknguitarworks.com and made available at our workshop.
